Enjoy the Silence...

Music plays a pretty vital part of my life. In between my blog posts for my advertising class, I'll be discussing some pretty amazing music that I feel needs to be better known to the free world.  This blog topic, "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode.  However, the attached video and song are from a remixed version by Mike Shinoda.  The original is amazing, I've also heard a few covers by bands like Anberlin, Lacuna Coil, and I feel that those are equally legit, but this one just stood head and shoulders above the others.  There's something about the use of the original band's voice but incorporated into a newer mixed instrumental sound that makes it sound really good.  I especially enjoy the thought behind the song, "enjoy the silence."  How often do people actually take the time to sit in silence, with no other sounds around them.  Its sometimes peaceful and sometimes serene, and words are sometimes "unnecessary and will only do harm."  I feel thats the message behind the song, to enjoy the silence, to find the good that is in silence and embrace it in your life.  The next time you feel slightly overwhelmed, sit down in silence and just enjoy it.  That's what its meant for.  Enjoy.

A New Type of Market to Advertise

As I have begun to think a little more about what advertising is and can be, I've learned a lot about it.  Everything we do is an advertisement of who we are and what we are "selling."  The prospective companies or buyers are the world and those throughout the many different facets of life.  While I was thinking on this, my wife brought to my attention the following video, which taps into a "new market" ripe for advertising.

Along with its clever message of advertising in the birthday market, it brings in several valuable points.  Nowadays it is so important to use all available resources (such as social media networks) in order to advertise.  It shows how great of an asset they are in aiding annual growth and also the importance of capturing your audience and keeping them interested (in this case, the mini pony).  Basically, the world is a large market, with many sub-markets in there waiting to be tapped into.  Each person is a walking talking advertisement, and its important that they convey the correct information and try and achieve growth.
